Given the places that they are likely to go to, the scalp is pretty unlikely. Even loco-regional spread from a lesion that has broken through from the oral cavity occurs, but I have never heard of that kind of spread very far away from the oral cavity. Nasopharyngeal SCC will spread up to the orbit of the eye, and these can move quite fast - but to the scalp? I wouldn't be looking for something there. Solar radiation induced carcinomas as an independent etiology could be encountered there, but I would expect to see others develop first such as basal cell carcinoma.

Since radiation my mom has had numerous squamous cell cancers turn up on her body...legs, arms and even her scalp. She has surgeries to remove them or they freeze them off with dry ice. Her dermatolgist says they are not related to her oral cancer but that they are from sun damage and the radiation exposure made them come out faster. She says they would have come out eventually but the radiation brough them out. They are slow growing and slow spreading and she hasn't had any severe problems with them. Just thought I would share.
Take Care,
