Dear Kalen,
Your mom and I shared some personal emails a while back, she was such an amazing peson and a strong advocate in positive thinking. She helped me personally, like so many others here, during the times when I didn't think I could get off the sofa and encourage my own mom to get up and try again.
God bless her and all of you. You'll be in my thoughts.
Love,
Donna

I wish to add my condolences to the family and friends as well. I have just been rereading some of Lani's postings over the last couple of weeks.
Even though she is now at peace we will all miss her here.

Dear Kalen- I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. She was so positive and sounded so strong I didn't realize her condition had become so dire. I am so sorry for your loss.
Please take care and send my condolences to your family.

From what she presented herself to be here she seemed to be a really wonderful woman.

Kalen:

Im so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. She was such a nice lady. She was only here a short time and she made lots of friends. May your good memories help give you comfort at this difficult time. She spoke of you often with much pride and love.

Kalen, thank you for telling us this sad news. Lani and my husband both went to Shands for their treatments and we compared notes. I had no idea she was that ill. We will miss her greatly, because she was a grand lady, full of positive thoughts and sentiment and we were excited to some day meet in Gainesville. Our sincere and heartfelt sympathies to you and the rest of Lani's family. Warmly, JaneP

Husband: 3 SCC gum and cheek cancers 2002, 2005, 2006: surgery only. Scans clear after removal of small, well differentiated, non-invasive cancers. No radiation. 4th SCC lip diagnosed 4/13/07 - in situ, removed in biopsy. More lip removed 2/8/08 - dysplasia. 2 Biopsies 3/17/09 no cancer (lichenoids)

Dear kalen,
I read about Lani's passing with a lump in my throat. I was actually thinking of sending her a PM when I came across this thread. We exchanged a few PMs a few weeks ago and I think she is really a wonderful person and genuinely caring to others who have qualified to join this Oral Cancer Club.

I will miss her motivating words, sense of humour and her undying spirit.

My condolence to you and your family.

Sharifah

How does one respond to such news...........

Kalen, Thank you for letting us know..........

My heart goes out to you and your family........

Mark, 21 Year survivor, SCC right tonsil, 3 nodes positive, one with extra-capsular spread. I never asked what stage (would have scared me anyway) Right side tonsillectomy, radical neck dissection right side, maximum radiation to both sides, no chemo, no PEG, age 40 when diagnosed.
