Wondering if anyone has suffered from sinusitus.I finished my radiation almost 7 yrs ago. I never had sinusitus before in my life and it started 2 yrs post radiation and has been relentless ever since. For 5 yrs i take anti- biotics it goes away and within a month it comes right back. Thanks for any advice or suggestions.

It is a known by product of head and neck radiation, and I have it too 8 years out. It is not an infection and antibiotics will not make it go away, it is chronic inflamation.

I've been seeing a pulmonary/sinus specialist about my sinus problems (they're NOT allergy-related), and he's had me using Nasonex spray for awhile. At least for me, it seems to have helped a bit.

If you had chronic sinusitus prior to being diagnosed with cancer and prior to treatment does that mean that after treatment it may be worse, the same? I thought maybe after the several months of recovery chronic sinusitus might be better. My father has suffered with it for years and I had hoped maybe possibly the one benefit of all this might be a reduction in sinusitus.
Based upon your statement Brian I guess I was incorrect in my thinking - can you expand on why this is a side effect of treatment?
Thanks
Kim

Brian, I hope the awnser that you have given me is correct, because my biggest fear is a recurrence. Everywhere I look the symptoms for Nasopharynx is chromic sinusitus that will not go away with antibiotics. I guess to ease my mind I need to know; If it is a by product of radiation and is inflamation than why did it take 2 years after treatment to develop and why is the disharge yellowish/green that seems to dissapear with antibiotics only to reappear after antibiotics. Thank you for your suggestion Cathy regarding nasal sprays but I've tried them all and they don't seem to help. Thanks for your responses Brian, Cathy and Kim.
