I got all the worst cases scenarios from the doctors at M.D. Anderson. All said and done, I now do speeches on giving up smokeless tobacco. The right side of my bottom lip is "dead", no muscle control. The numbness in tongue is gone (found this out hard way by biting on it). None of this has affected my ability to lead a normal life.
I did end up getting 2 opinions on mine. First from an oral surgeon, then I went to the cancer experts at M.D.
Whatever you decide, please know I wish y'all the best. God bless and take care.

I went to the first doctor and when he walked in the door I simply KNEW he was my choice. I didn't get a second opinion. Didn't feel I needed it.

She did have a nasogastric tube for almost 2 weeks which drove her absolutely crazy!. Best of luck for your upcoming surgery - you'll be in our prayers. Bonnie | | |

I have had a maxillectomy (upper jaw removal) and I have made several acquaintances on this board with similar surgery. There are also several on this board who have had mandibulectomies.....lower jaw removal. We all seem to be doing well. Why not post again in a separate topic, so that we can respond to you personally?
