Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 5,260 | I saw the surgeon that did my implants this morning. He came in and told me they had seen anyone like me before. He said I brezzed thru rads and chemo like they were nothing. Then he checked my mouth and tongue everywhere and anywhere he could get to it. Next was the scope up the nose and down the throat. He said I sure am different. There are no signs of the nasty looking tongue and everything has a great color and looks normal. No signs of cancer or where it had been. I guess I am one of the Lords star pupils. LOL I sure owe the man upstairs a lot of thanks for tsking care of mr and seeing thru some of the things i've had to deal with. I'll get the CTScan thurs and see if he takes care of me one more time. Old Lucky Louie here . LOL 
Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

Cancer of Tongue, SCC early Stage 1, Dx 3/13/07, partial glossectomy 4/14/07 found no residual carcinoma and a granular cell tumor with pseudo epitheliomatous hyperplasia.

Retired Dentist, 59 years old at diagnosis. SCC of the left lateral border of the tongue (Stage I). Partial glossectomy and 30 nodes removed, 4/6/05. Nodes all clear. No chemo no radiation 18 year survivor.

Tomorrow I start my first radiation treatment and Thursday I start chemo. I am going to work real hard to do my part and tomorrow I will be thinking about your wonderful news as I start down this path. You have really inspired me. Angel
SCC left tonsil, tonsillectomy with additional tissue removed 06/10/08, a few teeth on top left side removed 09/05/08,recurrence before treatment started at BOT and tonsil area, 35 IMRT treatments began 10/15/08, and Cisplatin IV (began10/16/08) weekly for duration of radiation.

History Leukoplakia bx 8/2006 SCC floor mouth T3N0M0- Verrucous Carcinoma.
14 hour 0p SCC-Right ND/excision/marginal mandibulectomy 9/2006, 4 teeth removed, flap from wrist, trach-ng 6 days- no chemo/rad.
6 ops and debulking (flap/tongue join) + bx's 2006-2012.
bx Jan 2012 Hyperkeratosis-Epithelial Dysplasia
24cm GIST tumour removed 8/2013. Indefinite Oral Chemo.
1/31/16 passed away peacefully surrounded by family

Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 531 | hey louie you can have a can of nuts with that steak as well as a nice crunchy salad...I can't wait for my teeth too want to go to a movie and eat pop corn again it is just too weird not being able to eat that at a movie substitute was frozen yogurt...just not right lol...
Onwards towards teeth I have mine and they aren't doing anything but collecting dust soon they will be of use very soon!!!
