Okay, out of curiosity...How much did you pay for this product?

I ordered two cases through CVS and they tried to bill me almost $120.00...I was like whoa...that sounds a little steep...I chewed them down to $36.50 per case for a total of $73.00.

Carnation VHC Lactose Free Instant Breakfast by Nestle, 560 calories 8.45 fl oz or 250 ml.....

Who was right?

$36.50 per case is what we paid for it. Where does CVS get the nerve to jack up the price that much?

I paid $40/case delivered to my house through Amazon.com, $60/case is outrageous.

And PLEASE buy it there by entering Amazon through the OCF link on the top of the forum page each time, or the entry page to the main web site. Costs you nothing but a click, makes OCF a commission from Amazon.

Carnation VHC, I love this stuff!

Hubby can drink 1 can(8.5 ozs, 560 cals) of vanilla flavored with 3 tbls of godiva chocolate power (130 cals) added for a change of flavor and 1 cup of soymilk (140 cals) for a grand total of 830 cals in 12.5ozs! The more calories he can get in one drink with the least amount to drink the better.
It is so much better then the "ensure" or "boost" or even the Isosource 1.5cal c-rap (only 375cals) they brought by for when he starts needing to use the PEG for feeding. I'm dreading the 6 feedings a day he'll need when his swallowing diminishes to the point that he can't get the nutrition he needs and has to switch to that stuff.
I ordered 2 cases online for 59.01 and after shipping and handling paid only 79.01 to have it delivered to my door. Thank the powers that be for our great informed and proactive nutritionist at my MO's office she hooked me up with where to order it. BTW I got it from RXusa.com and will be ordering more before the the new week begins.
Has anyone had any luck getting thier insurance to pay for this?? thanks, ~Ija~

After my recent surgery, I asked the Option Care lady (subsidiary of Walgreen) if I could get VHC, but after checking she said it's classed as a drinkable, not a PEG fluid, so it wouldn't be paid for.

Some insurances will pay for prescription liquid feeding solutions such as Nutren, Two-Cal, Jevity etc. Others will not pay for it saying that since you dont buy food to maintain yourself then this is the substitute. There was a bit of a battle with my insuance company. The radiation nurses had to argue on my behalf with them several times but they got me covered.

our insurance covered the Carnation high calorie. I did not know they would but called a medical supply store for purchasing and they told me if the doc would fax a script for it to them, insurance would cover and they would deliver by UPS the next day ... sure nuff, next morning a month's supply showed up.
(they told me their price was $70+ per case - because this is what the insurance will pay for it)
