All the nodes were clean but other features of my tumor which suggested it was more aggressive than most meant radiaiton was the safest course.
Although I was terrified ahead of time, the neck dissection was a walk in the park compared to radiation and chemo. Even though I looked like the bride of Frankenstein with all thoe staples in my neck for a while. It healed quickly and well and there is only one angle at which you can even see my scar clearly because it left a little pucker in the skin

I haven't had a neck dissection yet but i believe that is coming. I have been told it is stage IV and I need radation and Chemo. I'm scared but I know God is in control. Any suggestions for a new patient.

Then I chatted with people online (another website) who went thru it and they all provided me (still do) with so much help info and support. I found some of the stuff I read pretty scary; and you have to watch what you read. The feeding tube scared me too; but my Dad was fine about it. My Dad is 69 he finished his 7 week treatment on June 2/06. 35 radiations and 3 chemo's. You can email me if you have any specific questions about treatment. You should start a new topic thread and I'm sure you will get lots of info. This website is great! Marie did you dr tell you that you might need a neck dissection? Lisa [email protected]
