Its so nice to hear something is working for you. Its very frustrating trying so many different things and they dont work. So far for me the tongue depressors and the therabite are doing good. I also see a speech therapist and physical therapist and they help so much. Keep sending updates about your progress. Do you have any other info about this system you are using? Do you know how big your bite size was and what it is now? I started out arond 25m and now up to 30m in about 2 weeks, I hope progress continues. I am getting mighty tired of eating soup and jello. System I guess is like therabite it is used to stretch the jaws. This is a new system and my therapist says its the best she has seen on the market..Tks..Frank | | | | Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 10,507 Likes: 7 Administrator, Director of Patient Support Services Patient Advocate (old timer, 2000 posts) | Administrator, Director of Patient Support Services Patient Advocate (old timer, 2000 posts) Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 10,507 Likes: 7 | Wow, did you make alot of progress. Thats relly excellent news. How I admire you !!!!!! My bite opening is only 4mm. I had been up to 14mm but relapsed when I had a bad week. Now I need to work twice as hard to get back to where I was. Having alot of stress in your life makes your jaws tighten up more too. Tell me what this thing is called and where it came from. What type of therapist do you see? I have both a speech therapist and physical therapist. My physical therapist is the one who works wonders with me. Keep up the good work and keep me posted ChristineSCC 6/15/07 L chk & by L molar both Stag I, age44 2x cispltn-35 IMRT end 9/27/07 -65 lbs in 2 mo, no caregvr Clear PET 1/08 4/4/08 recur L chk Stag I surg 4/16/08 clr marg 215 HBO dives 3/09 teeth out, trismus 7/2/09 recur, Stg IV 8/24/09 trach, ND, mandiblctmy 3wks medicly inducd coma 2 mo xtended hospital stay, ICU & burn unit PICC line IV antibx 8 mo 10/4/10, 2/14/11 reconst surg OC 3x in 3 years very happy to be alive | | | | Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 8 Member | OP Member Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 8 | Hi again ..I just use a speech therapist at this time. Insurance will only pay for 6 visits and have just two visits left. Sorry you had a relapse but it does happen to all of us. I am sure you will improve with time. If you do not have this system or another type you may ask your therapist if a system like this would be of help. I had to pay for the system as my insurance refused. I guess the $ 400.00 is a small price to pay if it works. I admire everyone who is fighting Cancer...Have a great week..Frank | | |
