She had tongue depressors and the therabite system. Her speech is muffled and she has to write things for us to understand her. He doctors are not giving us any conclusive information as to why she is in soooooo much pain she is on daluadid and has a a patch on her arm for pain. She lost a tooth the other day just came right out from the root. She still spits blood clots. I do not know what to do. We think that after surgery there maybe some gauze packing or some other material left inside her. Would an MRI pick that up. Her doctors are scratching their heads and we need answers. Currently at UPENN in Philadelphia

Sorry to hear your mother is doing poorly. Have you discussed the blood clots with her doctors? Please update your signature under My Stuff/Profile to reflect your mother's cancer and treatment. Has she had radiation? How far can she open her mouth? How many tongue depressors? What type of surgery has your mother had? This may be a silly question but, has your mother seen a dentist?
If your mother is similar to me, I was had alot of jaw pain after radiation. My doctor got me started on hyperbaric oxygen treatments which cured my sore jaw. I have no pain at all. I do suffer from trismus which is a work in progress.
This may or may not be helpful to your mother based on what her condition is.

She is seeing her dentist that works with cancer patients tomorrow to get some more answers to the clots and pain. I will ask about the oxgen treatments for her jaw.
She had upper gum surgery where the removed some teeth and tissue and did a leg graph. She is on a Feeding tube so she can gain some of her weight back she lost about 70 pounds. She has not had any radiation yet as she had so much pain and an infection after surgery she did not want to get radiation. We are hoping to get some answers tomorrow and we a seeking a third opinion next week. | | | | Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 4 Member | OP Member Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 4 | Thank you for responding I will update my signature thanks | | | | Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 10,507 Likes: 7 Administrator, Director of Patient Support Services Patient Advocate (old timer, 2000 posts) | Administrator, Director of Patient Support Services Patient Advocate (old timer, 2000 posts) Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 10,507 Likes: 7 |
Glad I could be of help to you. Definitely ask about the clots and Hyperbaric treatments. You can do a search and read about it on here. It has done wonders for me. Basically a complete turn around, I went from daily pain and fatigue to no pain and having very little to no fatgue. Good luck a the doctors tomrow.
