I just got an email from one of my collegues that has scared me
to death. It says that a new study done at John Hopkins has found some alarming stuff. Now,I know, it may be on this site,
but I looked as best I can, and I don't see it.
It says that they have found that if you put plastic containers in the microwave and heat food in them, a dioxin is released that
causes cancer. The same with plastic wrap and bottled water. Botttled water only if you put it in the freezer.
Is this just old news I am find out?
Sorry for my ignorance, but you know how we scare easy.

Reconstruction failed. Some radiation, no chemo.

Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 388 | Hi Debbie - This rumor has been around for a long time - either link onto this : snopes.com: Microwaving Plastic Releases Cancer-Causing Agents OR go to SNOPES yourself and check out what they have to say (type in under "Search" for dioxins and plastic containers or something similar). For the most part, it isn't true, but we have stopped microwaving anything in plastic or drinking from plastic glasses anyway. Common sense prevails, esp. after you read what this site has to say. I BELIEVE you can also pull up some information from Johns Hopkins on this information too. Hope this helps. Warmly, JaneP.
Husband: 3 SCC gum and cheek cancers 2002, 2005, 2006: surgery only. Scans clear after removal of small, well differentiated, non-invasive cancers. No radiation. 4th SCC lip diagnosed 4/13/07 - in situ, removed in biopsy. More lip removed 2/8/08 - dysplasia. 2 Biopsies 3/17/09 no cancer (lichenoids)
