Age 58 at Dx, HPV16+ SCC, Stage IV BOT+2 nodes, non smoker, casual drinker, exercise nut, Cisplatin x 3 & concurrent IMRT x 35,(70 Gy), no surgery, no Peg, Tx at Moffitt over Aug 06. Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.

So glad to hear your husband is doing well, it is a relief when the surgery is over and the healing can begin.
My father has battled twice with scc in the buccal mucosa, right side only. He had the neck dissection with his surgery. He continues to get better, and can now eat whatever he wants.

Dad had oral lichens planus, and oral leukoplakia before T2 SCC,2 nodes. DX10/23/03 IMRT 12/29/03.30 rad,3 boost. Brachytherapy 3/8-3/11/04. Recurrence Nov07 Stage IV. 4 Surgeries No rads, no chemo I have oral lichens planus, thrush,leukoplakia 2/20/08 6/2/08 biopsies "inflammation"

Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April. --- Passed away 5/14/14, will be greatly missed by everyone here

Cancer of Tongue, SCC early Stage 1, Dx 3/13/07, partial glossectomy 4/14/07 found no residual carcinoma and a granular cell tumor with pseudo epitheliomatous hyperplasia.

I am a CG to my mum53, with SCC of Buccal Mucosa, Stage 3, received radiation for 45 alternate days in Hyd, India.Unfotunately had a recurrence after 3 months, and now refused to take chemo or surgery.On alternate medicine now- Intravenous Vitamin C. I don't know anything about Therabite and have not heard of IV Vitamin C for treatment of oral cancer. I'm sure others more knowledgable than I will get back to you on this soon.

I do not have the answers you need, so will leave input to the experts and I am sure someone will respond soon.
Best wishes and I hope your mothers choice of action proves positive for her. I figure when you love someone you support their decisions even if you do not always understand / agree with them... I would encourage her to educate herself and then let her decide her course of action.
