I had my surgery last September and have healed up nicely. I had a PEG tube placed prior to surgery and have been on it ever since. I lost 2/3 of the base of my tongue, had several set backs, so it's taking a lot longer for me to conquer swallowing. My problem is that over the last couple of months I started having a yellowish discharge anally that burns like acid. I had pneumonia for 5 weeks starting the end of Jan and was on and off antibiotics several times. I thought that had killed off all the good bugs as well as the bad ones in my gut. So I tried Probiotic drinks down my tube. That worked for about 6 days. Then back to the discharge. I have silent reflux and take a liquid scrip for that. So I thought maybe I needed something stronger. The nurse practitioner gave me samples of Prevacid which helped for about 3 days. Today I had one of the worse episodes I've had so far. On a scale of 1-10 the pain was a ten. It burned so badly I could hardly walk. I do have an appt with a Gastro doc but not until 6/3. It's almost impossible to get in to see these guys. Has anyone out there had something like this happen to them? I'm desperate for an answer. Thanks for any help. I hope you get the answer and it is horrible how sometimes we have to wait for an appointment. I'm sure you have tried to explain your pain level but maybe call them everyday to see if someone has canceled may help. Are there any other doctors who may be able to call this doctor to get you in any faster? Be the squeaky wheel.
