my peg since i had it surgically put, keeps leaking some kind of brown substances that are sth between solid & liquid, not a lot, but enough in a 3 days time. they have no bad smell but i am worried if this is sth normal, or sth is happening here. have u had any relative experience? thank u.

My peg tube leaked as you described for a week couple weeks, as I recall. I think the brown is liquid from the stomach. The skin never really gets tight around the tube, so some leakage is normal. I used square pads with slits for a while just to absorb anything.

My tube site also became infected, but that was much different. Bright red skin, puss, very painful. See a doctor if that happens. That had to be treated with antibiotics.


Stage III BOT, 14 weeks chemotherapy, 7 weeks IMRT. Finished treatment Jan. 2007.

Many of us had this happen. Just keep it clean as to not get an infection.
