I bought the pressure cooker. It came with a recipe booklet. Has anyone used it to cook a turkey leg? Im thinking it would be similar to the chicken leg recipe. Any suggestions?

I cant thank you enough for the pressure cooker idea. I struggle to eat meat and with using it I was able to eat turkey. It was so good. I used 1 turkey leg, 1 carrot, 1 small potato, 1/2 an onion and 2 cups water. I added some poultry seasoning and seasoned salt and cooked it for 35 minutes.
I now have renewed hope that I someday will be able to eat properly again. I also discovered won-ton soup is very tasty with fried noodles as crackers.

I have learned that the fattier and worse for you the meat is, the better I can tolerate it (bacon, dark meat chicken, sausage, organ meats etc.) The good news is, eating all this stuff, my total cholesterol levels have stayed down under 120, so something is going right!

How on earth do you manage to eat fried noodles? I can't anything dry like that. I can eat the wonton soup though. Can you eat breads yet?

I always soak the fried noodles in the soup till soggy

Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 10,507 Likes: 7 | I just had 2 cups of won-ton soup with fried noodles, it was so good!!! I soak the noodles in the soup til they are mushy. It has to be the wide noodles, the skinny ones that you dip in duck sauce those taste terrible. Ive eaten won-ton soup everyday since I found out I could eat it.
I just learned to eat bread with no crust. It must be very fresh soft bread and I load it with butter then I can eat it.
Right now I have 2 turkey legs in the pressure cooker. Im going to try turkey salad. Not sure if I can do it, but Im going to try.
I have figured out that I have 2 obstacles with eating. One is sometimes its difficult to swallow things especially meats. That one I cant do too much about except keep trying. Second is that radiation has done a number on my teeth. My teeth are loose and I have had a few pulled before treatment. I have control over that problem.
As soon as my recurrance is under control, I am going to start the hyperbaric treatments then have all my teeth pulled and get dentures with implants. I am one of the very few lucky ones whose medical insurance will cover what my dental doesnt for the implants.

Another high calorie idea is Avocado, you can use it like butter on bread, or with tomato and use that on almost anything, adding parmesan cheese would also help with extra calories. You go girl! ;o)

Unfortunately due to my recent surgery, I have been set backward a few months with my eating. For now, I can only open my mouth not even 1 finger. Good thing I still have the PEG tube. Once I am able to start my jaw excercises again and make some progress I will try the avocado spread.
