I was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of my left tonsil September 2007, I had neck dissection surgery first with 30 lymph nodes removed but only 1 with cancer. In late October I started radiotherpy with 35 treatments and went through it relatively well compared to a lot of other people but it was still no walk in the park, lost weight etc but I feel really good now.
I had a CT scan 1 week ago and the report came back with a suspicious thickening behind the tongue and next monday I go into hospital for the day and my specialist will use a scope and biospy will be taken.
I suspect the radiation did not kill the tumour or it has spread to some other part of my throat, I asked my specialist what was next if it did not kill the tumour he said most likely more radiation and probably chemo this time.
A bit nervous and worried but will post outcome of biospy next week
Regards
Tony

Welcome to the OCF. I'm sure you will be hearing from some members that have been through a similar experience. I'm sorry to hear that you might have to face additional treatment. I wish you well and I hope to hear that the biopsy came back negative.
I visited your beautiful country in Feb. 2007 and it is one of the most beautiful places in the world with some of the nicest people I have ever met.
Good luck.

Happy that you are cancer free.
