Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

Of course I told her to make sure she tells her doc tomorrow and get the pain under control. She also says it hurts to swallow and I've already told her about the benefits of swallowing less with VHC. If this is any indication of the future, it ain't gonna be pretty.

You know it's tough... if it was easy, everybody would do it. Just your being there is a good thing, but you can only do so much, as I am sure you well know. Best of luck.

We have a guest house so you guys are welcome and while you're being the CGer Dan and I will bike. Today was 79 and tomorrow will be a little warmer. I still wear shorts to my office and usually a short sleeve shirt unless we have one of those frigid bone chilling 60 degree days.

Yes I have advised her about as much as I think she can tolerate right now. I haven't gone into to much detail or been to graphic because I just don't think she's ready for it and maybe, just maybe, she won't need to know. Anyway we talk every day so I'll know when I need to speak up.

Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 8,311 | Sad update....The cancer continued to grow in her brain and it also spread to her lungs. She completed all the rad Txs and chemo Txs to no avail. She has been under Hospice care at home for the last 2 weeks. Now she is pretty much unable to recognize anyone and her doctor and Hospice have told me it's just a matter of days. At this point I wish she would just give in and move on to her next life. She is strongly religious so I hope that is of some comfort to her because, believe me, nothing that she has endured has been remotely comforting.
I hope I never have to be a part of something like this again and I can't even begin to imagine going thru this with my spouse or other loved one.
