Joined: May 2006 Posts: 137 | I lost the hair on the back of my head at the base of my skull, but it grew back like it was never gone. The nasty mucus will decrease, too. Keep hydrated and be patient. Radiation and its effects are no picnic.

dx 2/13/06. modified radical neck dissection 3/9/06 multiple biopsies of upper airway and direct laryngoscopy. 1 of 47 lymph nodes positive for metastatic undifferentiated carcinoma (lymphoepithelioma). Unknown primary. Finished radiation 5/24/06.

Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 2,671 | My son also lost hair at two exit points at the back of his neck and when it grew back it came in darker but now his hair is just like before. At the time, I offered to let him borrow my eyebrow pencil but he didn't go for it.

CG to son, Paul (age 33, non-smoker) SCC Stage 2, Surgery 9/21/06, 1/6 tongue Rt.side removed, +48 lymph nodes neck. IMRTx28 completed 12/19/06. CT scan 7/8/10 Cancer-free! ("spot" on lung from scar tissue related to Pneumonia.)

Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.
