Hi all. I have been viewing this site for about a month and a half now. I have found such good information on here. This is a great support as there is not much out there for oral cancer in the community. I am a 40 year old non-smoker, non-drinker that was totally shocked to find out I had oral cancer just about 1 year ago. To say that my life has changed is a small understatement. Radiation was a tough road to travel and I am still feeling the affects. Hats off to all those involved with the creation and maintenance of this site.

SCC of tongue removed 3/07 mod. left neck dissection. Tumor reappeared 6/07. Removed 8/07, right neck dissection, free flap from wrist for tongue graph. Radiation 30 (IMRT), chemo cisplatin 4 rounds finished 11/07.

Welcome Richmond girl!

I'm glad you found the site, but of course sorry you needed it.
I was diagnosed about this time 2 years ago (age 29, non smoker/occasional drinker).
I hope your troubles end with 2007 and that the start of 2008 brings better news for you!

It saddnesses me to read that after a year your still feeling the affects of your treatment. I hope you are going on with life. I have only been diagnosed six months ago, and I thought I would at least be eating. How are your taste buds a year later? Can you eat some of your favorite foods?
