Almost 5 months after "the surgery" 20% of tongue removed, margins good and Lymph nodes clear. A couple of weeks ago, out of nowhere,a small tooth literally fell out of the back of my mouth. Being an optimist, I tend to think it was simply caused by changes in my "bite" as a result of new ways of chewing my food. But of course, I am concerned. Anybody ever experience this??

Seeing ENT soon, but am concerned.

Sailor,

It is doubtful that changes in the way you are chewing could cause a tooth to fall out.

Teeth are held in by a connection of the tooth root to the bone by fibers. You appear to have had surgery only, as you don't mention chemo or radiation in your signature. Is this correct?

Have you been under a dentist's care since your surgery? Have you ever been diagnosed with periodontal disease? This is not normal and I would suggest that you check with a dentist to get your mouth evaluated as quickly as possible.

No Chemo , No Rad. Have been in to see the dentist since the surgery ( had another irration on tongue caused by new bite) Teeth sanded down. No Periodontal diagnosis. As I said seeing ENT Friday and I'll bet he is going to suggest dental view soonest. My fear was thta this was really another cancer.
