Does anyone have pain in the stomach around their feeding tube. My Dads tube has been in since April; he hasn't used it for a couple of months now for eating. He flushes it. It's not red; just sore to the touch and feels like a sore stomach at times; it's been like this for a couple of days now.
Thanks Lisa

John had the same types of symptoms you describe with his tube a month or so after completing treatment. When he finally went to the nurses' station to get some advice they asked if he had pulled or moved it in some way in the week or so before coming in. It turned out that by accident it had come out quite far when he was in the shower and he had pushed it back in.
No one was ever sure why it was hurting him but he was sent to a surgeon that day to have it removed - took just a couple of minutes.

When I read 'nurses station' I figured you were from TO ha. Did he have his treatment at PMH?
We were at the (PMH) nurses station yesterday but the dr wasn't around so we are going back today. I just talked to my Dad and told what you said here; and he tells me his also came out a bit and he pushed it back in.
Thanks Lisa

They don't know why it's hurting and said it could be an infection. We bumped into the RO and she said not to worry. When she looked at the stomach in the nurses station the day before she said it looked like it could have fluid build up.
Anyone have this problem?

I finished treatment at the end of May. I'm just now venturing back into solid foods - I've been on the Ensure pretty much the whole time until now. Anyhow, my PEG tube is sore most of the time. It goes through 'phases' where it seems more sore and I notice it more. I'm in one of those right now. I never seem to notice that it looks any more irritated but I can definitely feel a difference. I've had my docs look at it along the way and they say it's just normal to have some soreness - you have a hole in your gut which is trying to heal but can't because of the tube.
I'm awaiting a PET scan to see if we got it all - I decided not to have the tube pulled until I get the official 'remission' status from the docs.
Just wanted to pass along that I've been sore too and from what I've seen/heard it's farily normal to have that. If you see a marked increase in redness or swelling, etc, obviously that should be checked out further as infection is still possible.
