My husband is one yr. out and still uses PEG (6 bottles of BOOST PLUS daily) while eating by mouth once a day (less than 1/2 c. of food) and finds constipation is a big problem. He is taking Benefiber twice a day but still has the problem. May be due to the Dilaudid he takes for chronic pain in jaw (exposed jawbone since extraction of teeth and radiation/lack of healing)./And a second problem--pain due to exposed jawbone. Site where teeth were extracted hasn't healed after 2 surgeries and hyperbaric treatments. Help with either of these problems is welcome!

I bought a bag of Flax Meal at Kroger for $2.00 and all you need is 2 TBS. per day. It does the trick in about 3 days and as long as you keep taking it things "come out" fine.
Blessings, Barb~

But John is experiencing constipation or the runs, depending on the day. When he is stopped up, he takes 1 Correctol[some days just a half]. This is a woman's laxitive and very gentle. It has worked for him for almost a month now. Can't help with the other pain issue- it sounds really tough to deal with. Hope you both can keep your spirits up. Amy

I took Senna or Senna S 2x daily seemingly forever. Another key is to move around by talking regular walks and down lots of water. Even the fiber stuff won't help without water. As a general rule, take your weight divided by 2. This is the minimum amount of water to drink each and every day. I don't know if you juice but cabbage juice does wonders for constipation and overall intestinal health.
Sorry I don't have anything to offer on the jaw pain.
Ed

Who would think being constipated would be a problem on a liquid diet? But i too take pain pills for my throat which causes this. What i do is through my peg tube is do 1/2 dose of MOM daily, start off with full doses every eight hours till results then back off to 1/2 dose. This has worked wonders for me as seena s and metamusil gets laughed at in my system and doesnt touch a thing. As far as your mouth pain my prayers are with you and im so sorry about what your going through. Not sure if you tried the triple mix for right before meals or not but might be worth a shot. I sure hope these things help you be more comfortable and will check back for your response. BLESS YOU Bob Grey

Sorry for the full PM's. I didn't know we could only store 60 and had to do some housekeeping.

Your post really made me smile I don't have a juicer, but am gonna give it the old college try in my blender. Thanks, Amy
