When she uses it with the nutrition drink &/or water it comes back up her throat and makes her nauseous for 1-2 hours after the feeding. She has even cut back the oz to 4 per feeding and it still happens. She is getting tired of constantly feeling sick to her stomach. Has anyone else experienced this type of a problem? Thanks for any advice you can offer- Tami

I cut back myself and found that if I sit up, I feel better. Laying down gets the reflux going and more than a few times, I vomited. She should go to the doctor and see what they suggest. Prehaps prevacid, via the peg tube or something similar may help with the reflux. Wish her well. Jeff | | |

My husband had a lot of reflux when he first got the peg (he had a slight reflux problem in the past, had used Prevacid). This time the RO tried Reglan (metoclopramide) and that pretty much took care of it. You might ask about this...

I did also. My gastroenterologist started me on Carafate right after he put the PEG in, even though I was and had been taking Nexium for nearly three years. He told me it would supplement the Nexium and help avoid a major reflux problem during treatment. Also, should some occur, which it has, he said it would help to heal the damage done by it quicker.
