Hi
If it is a low grade dysplsia they can laser it off, or they may just watch and wait, do you know wait they have graded yours as? and where in your mouth is it? I will help if I can, I had severe dysplasia for 3years.

I had laser ops but they coudn't get clear margins, then it moved to my thoat and base of tongue, so in the end it took a 12 op to remove it all and replace with a skin graft, but they were confident that this time they had all of it, but I played wait and see for nearly 4 years and I could have carried on with biopsy every 6 months but I didn't want to take the risk of it changing any further.
Hope that helps

Thanks that does help. I know for now watching and waiting is working for Bob they think the radiation got it but it is good to know about the laser surgery. Every bit of information is another potential resource to tuck away for the future. Hopefully info we won't need smile Peace Denise

Hi, I was also dx'd with dysplasia a couple of months aftern my surgery. The doctor told me that it is very likely due to the surgery, for after cutting back there, sometimes the cells can appear abnormal (dysplastic) under the scope. I was scheduled to have laser surgery, but it was cancelled because it "looked better" at my pre-op visit. I am not sure if your husbands dysplasia is in the area of his surgery or not, mine was. I am not 100% comfortable with this explanation, for me, so I am being seen at a CCC next week for further evaluation. Best of luck to you!!!

Rick, that's great news you are getting a further evaluation at a CCC. I think it will really set your mind at ease about things. Are you going to Roswell Park or elsewhere?
