Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 164 | Well, things had been going so well. I started eating again, yogurt, pudding, mac & cheese, mashed banana, etc. you know the fare. I am doubled over in pain when I take a deep breath. I went to the ER, fearing infection, but it seems it's just plain old gas. It's nice to have something ordinary for a change, but not so nice to pay a large co-pay to found out.
Anyone else had trouble with horrible gas pains, when starting to eat again after 3-4 months on the PEG tube?

I am lactose intolerant and I get the same symptoms when I accidently ingest something that contains milk or milk products.

I would be curious to know if it is possible you have had a body chemistry shift due to chemothrapy and are now lactose intolerant.

Try crushing a lactaid pill and mixing it in your food or drink twice a day. End of problem for me. I buy them at Walmart. Without them I would be pure water out that end. Best wishes, Dan
