Was reading some older postings and ran into one talking about bratwurst last June. It gave me an idea that has nothing to do with cancer!! A good thing I think.
I am going to list my favorite meal and see if anyone can top it!! Play along if you want to.
Take two New York strips about 1-1/4" thick and marinate them in either a lemon pepper or blackened seasoning for about two to three hours. Start the Weber grill with real charcoal and let it get good and hot. (about 30 minutes) Take one pound of fresh aspargus and cut just the tips off down about two to three inches. You can either grill them turning every few seconds or boil to desired crispness. Saute some fresh mushrooms in butter and table onions. Preheat the steak plates in oven for ten minutes. Cook the steak about 4 to 5 minutes each side or to desired doneness. I like mine with pink showing. Close to medium rare with a grilled outer part. Bake two potatos for 1 hour at 425' and serve with real butter and sour cream and salt and pepper. Would also like a side dish of fresh olives, pickels, carrots and celery with Hidden valley Ranch dressing. Also a small side dish of cottage cheese.
Desert would be a medium piece of cheesecake with strawberry or cherry topping with whipped cream. Eat till full and go take a nap!!!
Love ya All, Danny Boy

Just planted the herbs in the garden. Lemon peppor grows like a ground cover and is actually more like a weed. Spreads too quickly and squeezes out other plants. Hope you ate that dinner tonight. Sounds delicous.
Take care, Eileen

I am drooling while typing. I know there are those who say grilling is bad, but that must be an urban legend (grin). I hope everyone on this forum gets to the place where they can eat that meal or one like it. Then they can come to your house too.
A close second is what we had tonight, that being fresh caught Columbia River salmon, with fresh asparagas, and a salad made with home grown, just picked lettuce. Strawberries for dessert. Joanna | | |

I'm spending lots of time with Dad in Chicago during treatment (IMRT x 25 w/ brachy to folo)and this sounds like an excellent meal for him to have before rad starts on Wednesday! He's been able to eat more and more solid food each day since the tumor was removed from his tongue on 4/27 and he's been encouraged to eat what he wants now because he won't want to during/after rad. He's not much with computers, but I'm going to ask him to contribute a family recipe this week--we're Italian! Thanks for the upbeat post Danny Boy. This website has been such a help to my family. Ciao, Tina

Your dinner sounds delicious!!! And easy to do, which is even better! I am what you would call "cooking challenged", no Martha Stewart if you know what I mean. I'm excited to be able to get some good easy recipes from this post...so all of you good cooks out there, share the recipes!!! LOL
Hugs,

I'm not even a big fan of steak, but it sounds soooo good the way you describe it. How about you come to my house and man the grill? I'll even make a scrumptious cheese cake for you. That's one of my favorites, too.
Helen, What would an ideal vegetarian dinner be? I'm trying to cut back on meat, especially red meat. Would love some ideas!
Glenn, I think table onions are what we on the East Coast would call spring or green onions. I think, but not positive.

We have onions, spring onions, spanish onions, pickled onions, shallots, red onions. Don't care onions are good I can still taste them. Sunshine.. love and hugs Helen

I am a carnivore just like you, but to make my meal perfect, I must have some potatoes. Mashed potatoes are my favorites, maybe with roasted garlic mixed in, maybe not, or a big, baked potato with lots of butter!
Really, Thanksgiving dinner is my favorite of the whole year. Mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing -- all the carbs I can get my hands on!
Thanks for starting a fun topic. I needed a smile today!
love, Barb
