I was just wondering if I was now locked in the my present job because of what I had.

As I recall, he was able to sign up for the new health plan with no questions asked -- I think all the new insurance company wanted was a letter from the previous insurer showing that he had been continuously covered.

April 2006: Husband dx by dentist with leukoplakia on tongue. Oral surgeon's biopsy 4/28/06: Moderate dysplasia; pathology report warned of possible "skip effect." ENT's excisional biopsy (got it all) 5/31/06: SCC in situ/small bit superficially invasive. Early detection saves lives.

I have done some research and it seems that it's dependent on whether you've had any break in insurance coverage - if so, there is probably a waiting period of some length before the new insurance would cover any claims related to your cancer. If not, you should be covered. That's one GOOD thing HIPAA has done for us. See this link http://www.dol.gov/ebsa/faqs/faq_consumer_hipaa.html
