Richs mouth is so painful and raw at even taking roxanol sublingual is just too painful for him. He is only taking sips of fluid and icecream, and his neurotinin orally. He just got morphine and ativan ordered to be administered by gel rubbing it into his wrists. I have no experience with this andwas wondering if anyone else did. Thank you.

P.S. About the smell, well the nurses say they can't smell it except when the bandages are being changed and that my methods are working. What I have done is change bandage 2 times a day as that is all he will accept. I have febreeze sprays an thanks to an e-mail from a member here I got a nilodor dispenser and odor absorbing kitty litter under the bed. I also put a small amount of vinigar in the humidifier.

Was a peg tube offered? The medications can be given via the peg as well as nutrition. When my sister was finally able to swallow a little, she was also swallowing roxanal, but it had to be diluted and given in small measures, it took a good 20 minutes sometimes to give her a full dose. the peg tube was easier, but the roxanol not as effective, therefore a larger dose is required. Can cause vomiting if given w/o some food. She didn't try the gels, I hope they will be effective for Rich. I wish you both my best.

The Gels are very effective thank god. As he is rubbing it in you can just see him relax.
