Hi all,

I have been working with a PR person hired by the makers of the VELscope oral cancer detection system to try to get information about their device to the general public, as well as the dental profession.

On September 18th the local ABC affiliate in Philadelphia will be sending out a producer and camera man to my office to tape a segment for their health report.

You can be sure that I will try to find a way to get some exposure for the Oral Cancer Foundation worked into this piece.

When I get more information, I will post it.

Jerry,

Bravo my friend!! As a user of the VELScope I have to say it is a wonderful addition to my armament for the early detection of OC.
If I can help from a distance in any way let me know.
You are definatly a champion of our craft.

FYI: I am hosting a, free to all comers, Oral cancer screening day in my community. I hope to have my local dental society, cancer foundation, VELScope, and dental suppliers support. I have already started laying the ground work. If you want I can e-mail you the letters and draft flier and media package.
Cheers,

Mike

Mike....That's great.

I would love to see them. They could come in handy in the spring when I do the screenings at a dental convention.

Oh well life is never dull.

Stay well,

Well, today was the day. A producer and cameraman showed up at the office and we did an interview and videotaping of a VELscope exam and a comprehensive oral cancer screening. The producer had a script of questions for the interview.

Can't say I wasn't nervous as this is certainly not my forte, but knowing the importance of getting the message out and exposure for the VELscope, I managed to get it done. I think I came off pretty well and I am sure that I made my point. I am disappointed, however, that I wasn't able to work in the OCF into the taping. I did give the producder some informational brochures and she promised to work some information into the reporter's lead in. She also said there would be a link to the OCF website on their website, along with the video.

She said it could take up to 3 weeks for it to air and she will give me time to let people know when it will be on.

I will try to get the information here for those in the viewing area and a link to the website when it is available.

That's great, Jerry.

All of you outside the Delaware Valley should know that Philadelphia's ABC affliate, WPVI-TV, has had the #1-rated news programming in the region for the last 30 years (yes, since 1977) -- so a lot of people will be watching this.
