Everything went well and as planned.....been a long time since that's happened for me! I had reconstructive surgery to my neck scar, improving that so much that I thought I would cry today. Had my trach scar revised so that it is smaller and less noticable. My bottom left lip had fallen in quite a bit so that was fixed and for that I am grateful. They took fat from my thigh (there is plenty of it now thanks to my new thyroid issues) and used it to build up my lip and they did an awesome job. My daughters call me Angelina Jolie now, my lips are so swollen. The pain is not bad, mostly in my neck and from my face swelling up, I've only taken a few tylenol so far. I do have a horrible time with anesthia, it makes me throw up for hours, so that didn't help with the pain. Tonight I am feeling pretty good, have a bag of frozen peas to help get the swelling down. It's been an interesting process getting my "looks" back to normal. I'm amazed with what they can do and would suggest it to anyone that is bothered by scars or by tethering of their neck. Mine is looser already. Now come the implants.......another adventure on the horizon! Take care everyone, Minnie

That's wonderful news! I'm so happy for you. You've been through so much that it's nice to hear that someone's surgery made someone want to cry "happy tears!" Here's hoping the swelling subsides real soon and I'll be looking to see your picture on the cover of a magazine real soon?!?
Hugs, Nancy

Nancy, I agree, it was nice to look in the mirror, see all the stitches and bandages but be HAPPY about it! My children are just amazed and thrilled. My 10 year old said "this is the best day of my life, I got my dance costume and mom got her real face". It was so funny. I knew that there would be some improvement, but it is so strange to walk by a mirror and I see myself now, not that stranger with the left side of her face larger then the rest. I am still stunned that the results are so wonderful. Helen.....I can do Goldie Hawn lips without even puckering up, lol. It's a very strange feeling. The doc said they will get to normal size within the week. Biggest developments I had today is lots of bruising, but I expected it. Bags of frozen peas are the BEST thing for faces. Take care, Minnie

Congratulations on your surgery! I am so happy for you but I can't imagine how happy you must be. My neck scar is slightly tethered down right in front and it makes me crazy (very minor) so I you must be ecstatic to be free!
