Hello everyone,
I would like to post more often but have not been feeling well.
I have a question. I have had only 7 treatments so far but have had nausea since the first.
I am told that the radiation should not be causing nausea, but I know it is not in my head.
Am I crazy, or are they?!
I was given meds but they don't seem to be helping much.

For those who have replied to my posts in the past, I was formally known as Keplan. I decided to put my real name out there. Feels more personal.

Keith,

It doesn't matter if they say the Rad shouldn't be causing the nausea. It only matters that you are nauseated so they need to treat that symptom. If one med doesn't work, try another and another and hopefully you will find one that works for you.

You must be that squeaky wheel sometimes.

Are you getting Amifostien shots with your Rads?

That stuff affected me towards the end...

No Amifostien.

They put me on Compazine. That didn't help. I'm now trying Zofran. We'll see what happens.

Hi.
My partner started radiation has had just 2 radiations so far and yesteday suffered nausea even though he didn't have a treatment yesterday. we're not sure if it's from the radiaton or not now. we just thought it might be a stomach bug or something. I wonder how many other people suffer nausea from radiation to the mouth area??

Partner diagnosed with low grade mucoepidermoid carcinoma of sublingual gland, 2nd opinion graded intermediate grade, surgery to remove, lymph nodes removed one side, nodes all clear. Treatment - radiation.

Kristie H. Hi. I posted a very similar message last night but have not gotten any responses yet. My mother is suffering terribly with nausea and vomiting and she is only in her second week. She is on Kytril and Compazine and nothing is helping. We are headed to treatment now. I will let you know if they give us any good advice. Sounds like both of us are very new to this.

i got acid reflax and real bad heart burn and neasuea my frist round of kemo. so bad i ended up in the hospital for 4 days. just had my second round of cemo (cisplaten, toxitere and 5 fu ) and staded with the steriods, zofran, and ativan. started to get all the neasea back . cancer savivor friend said he took two o three puffs of marijana cigarette when the symptoms came on and it worked for him. After much reseach into this i have found 100's of people that have this work for them.they also end up off all that other pioson pills that are givin by doctors that have so much side effects. I have now been off all those pills for about 6 days and feel great except for being week and a few mouth sores. it has made me be more hungry even though it is hard to eat food taste like crap.it has also helped me sleep alittle better with out more piosion sleeping pills. good luck and hang in there. I only have 12 more weeks of treatment to go and i am done.

I got nausea my last two weeks of treatment and nothing helped but vomiting. I either had it right before my treatment or after. Nothing they gave me helped and by then I did not want anymore pills.
