You have come to the right place. You will hear from many people shortly. It may have been better if you put this message in the "introduce yourself" forum. But they will find you and respond. I'm new myself, but this forum is a Godsend. You are not related to Zach Thomas are you? Good Luck, PeteyB

Squamous Cell carcinoma. What treatment have they offered you father? From my understanding he is in the right age group for aggressive treatment if necessary. I will try to find you some sites that may give you more insight. Sunshine.. love and hugs Helen

WWW.Cancerbackup.org.uk cancer of the gullet(oesophagus) UK spelling. good site.. Then for the USA WWW.cancer.gov esophageal cancer. Please ignore the estimated statistics for 2007 posted on this site. Most cancers of this type occur in very elderly people and are not detected until to late for any treatment other than palliative can be offered. (ie 80 and above) THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO YOUR FATHER.. Hope this helps.. please do not leave this site, we are supportive of all cancers and will help where we can. It is bit difficult for me to advise to much as here in the UK the health system is different to yours. But you need a comprehensive cancer center preferably with a speciality of esophageal cancer. Hope this helps. Sunshine.. love and hugs Helen

She had chemo (cysplating), radiation and just recently surgery where they removed a part of her esphagos. After her surgery she was advised that for the rest fo ther life she could not sleep flat on her body. so now she has to sleep on a bit of an incline but she does not mind. By the way she recovered just fine and so will you.
