Hi,

It would be great if we could chat live with people in here, instead of having to wait for posts. Is there a way you could add this on the web site?
Thank you for all your hard work on this site and we cant thank you enough!
God Bless
Thanks
Stephanie

Stephany,
I just read your profile to find that you in Los Angeles too. I am in the San Fernando Valley and it would be my pleasure to meet you for coffee sometime just to sit and chat. My mom passed away 20 yrs ago from breast cancer, I know this is different but I also can empathize with what you are going through. Please don't mistake what I wrote as me saying you are going to lose your mom, I just want you to know I am here if you ever need an ear.
My email is [email protected], I am currently unemployed so my time is pretty flexible.
Hang in there. Michele

Live chat is definitely a great idea and I remember somebody bringing this issue some time ago. I think this involves a lot of technical problems, manpower and heavy workload too. I once entered a chat room in a US cancer support center. To my disappointment, they assigned someone to answer my questions who has no understanding whatsoever about my situation. She only gave me a telephone number for contact. The chat session was cut off when I had not yet finished talking.I look forward to chatting with OCF members too!

I think right now the main roadblocks to a live chat feature are time and money ...... unfortunately, there is a lack of both. The more donations OCF receives, the more likely it is that a chat feature can be added in the future. But now, Brian has his hands full just garnering enough support to keep the website operating. He spends an enormous amount of time answering e-mails from cancer patients desperately seeking help and he also works tirelessly to see that oral cancer screenings become a routine part of every dental exam. Early detection is the key to a good survival rate and he is ceaseless in his efforts to get the word out to government officials (for new legislation), corporate entities (for donations), health personnel (for education) and common folks like you and me (to save a life). There aren't enough hours in the day for him to do all he has on his plate now. He just doesn't have the resources available, time or money wise, to add a live chat feature now.

I see that my reply wasn't necessary. Mark and Gary had already answered this post elsewhere. Stephany, I see you posted your question in 3 different places. Maybe you weren't sure which area it belonged in? I know you are new and probably didn't think about it, but if you post your question in different areas of the forum, the answers will be all spread out. It is much easier to post the question in only one forum and keep everything together.
