I counted every treatment down as I conquered them. Im so glad that part of the nightmare is over for me. I had a lot of nausea, exhaustion, loss of taste, mouth sores and trismus (had that since surgery but got much worse with IMRT). Now Im day 6 out and can manage to swallow water without pain (most of the time). I wish the mouth sores would go away!!! Exhaustion sets in easily still...but Im planning on getting away this weekend with my hubby for our 21st wedding anniversary. You are all in my thoughts, hope you all enjoyed your valentines with someone special and did something special for yourself as well .

It was like graduating from college, just without the hoopla and beer. HA! The overall length of Tx seemed to pass very quickly but any individual day, hour, or second felt like an eternity.
Anyways, enjoy your new found free time and remember to take it easy. Good Luck.

The end of treatment will stick in your mind just like the day they said you have cancer.
Enjoy!

I finished my radiation two months ago, and it took a good one month until I could tolerate food other than ensure, even with numbing my mouth with the magic mouthwash. At week three after radiation I was told about another mouthwash product, that needs to be compounded by a compounding pharmacy. It is misoprostel and lidocaine and is available with a prescription. The pharmacy that I used is in New Jersey, but they will ship anywhere. It really helped the sores in my mouth to heal much much faster. It is Liberty Pharmacy at 973-635-6200. | | |
