Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 150 | My dad has little itchy sores that bleed (when scratched) on both sides of his neck. Did anyone else have these? We are guessing the are little ulcerations from radiation? :rolleyes:

Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 541 | ShawnaMargo, it is very common to have itchy sores during radiation and it will last for quite a while after treatment. It is definitely a side effect and ask your dad not to worry. The burnt neck will heal up very soon. See if the nurse can do anything to make it less itchy and make sure he doesn't scratch. My nurse cleaned the wound every day and applied some kind of purple liquid around and cover it with some soft pad to prevent me from scratching. It helped a lot.
