Hi Aussie Helen,

Yeah. I remember going to Amsterdam once to see what Christmas and New Year would be like (had to see what snow looked like!)... I arrived when it was minus 15 deg C ... no trams, no buses, 2 pairs of jeans, 3 pairs of sox, beards and eyelashes froze, water pipes broken ... so, I don't mind the heat here... goes well with the prawns and champagne :-)

Cheers!

Tizz

Just in case you want a reminder here is a view of both water and cold weather:

Duluth Shipping Canal (lake Superior)Web cam

If it is dark when you look at the site, remember it is a live camere and the time zone thing.

It is a view looking pretty much NNE. The mass of water in Lake Superior means that she often doesn't freeze until later in the winter if at all. You will see ice pieces floating out of the canal because it breaks loose upstream in the St. Louis River

Helen, If you could get me there without the 17 hour flight I'd gladly eat a sandy sandwhich! (might take a Fosters or a Sheaf Stout to wash it down) smile

Mark, I just got frostbite just LOOKING at that one... Theatening to spend Christmas in US next year, my wife's never even SEEN snow, much less experienced real cold weather.

Bob, if you want to have Christmas here next year, remember how cold it gets in South Florida this time of year. I actually had to put my sandals on to get the newspaper this morning at 7:00 AM. Of course, my shorts and t-shirt kept me mostly warm. Merry Christmas.

Hi Mark

What an interesting link - I have bookmarked it. When I first looked it was night time and I could only see lights although I believe there was a man in a red suit and what looked like reindeer in the distance! Now, during daylight I can't believe how cold and forbidding it looks and the water seems to go on forever. I'll have a look in a few weeks to see how it changes.

Merry Christmas to everyone from Helen

Glad you like it. I looked at night too and there is a suspicious red (nose) out there!.....

Remember those navigation rules: Red Right Returning (opposite on leaving)
