I assertively requested Amifostine to possibly preserve my salivary glands. I have had oral dysplasia about 15 years following severe mouth sores during chemotherapy for breast cancer. With chronic mouth sores(although not severe), saliva has really helped to ease the soreness. Now I'm wondering whether or not the dysplastic cells pick up the Amifostine and are therefore protected from the radiation. If so, perhaps improvement of the oral dysplasia will not occur during radiation. But it might not improve anyway. Does anyone have any experience with Amifostine, or good news to share regarding Amifostine or improvement/cure of oral dysplasia from radiation? | | |
