Well had the biopsy of my tongue this morning, he took one from my tongue and one from the edge of my graft scar. Still he has made a good job of the sutures and cut the ends nice and short.
BUT because of the holidays there is not a Monday head and neck clinic for 3 weeks (as of yesterday) This is not good for my stress levels.
Sunshine.. love and hugs

Doesn't anyone work Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday overthere or can you only have oral cancer on Mondays? What do they do with emergencies?

Try not to stress out to badly and have a Merry Christmas.

Take care,
Eileen

In England, you're only allowed to be ill for 2 hours in the mornings and 2 in the late afternoon, Monday to Friday and not at all for 2 weeks at each of Easter and Christmas! Consultants do one clinic a week, on a good week!

In an emergency, you go to A and E and sit and wait for a minimum of 4 hours to see an overworked Junior Doctor who doesn't even speak English and get left on a trolley in a corridor for hours!

Am about to go through same scenario Helen--now have 2 painful lumps on neck. doc I saw last week is supposed to be 'consulting' and ringing me back tomorrow to say if I'm going for biopsy or not--but if I am, you can bet yer boots it won't be til January!
My 'urgent' MRI scan was ordered on April 19th--it happened on May 15th!!

But, hey, c'mon---we get all this neglect for free!!!!!
(Er, no, praps not quite free--have been, and still am, paying my 'National Health' contributions!!

Cynically, Bren x

Eileen I have been told any problems I can phone and someone will see me. But that wont hurry up the results..
Anyway now I only have two sutures, one has disappeared.
Have got the pain sorted alternate paracetamol and ibuprofen (UK drug names) so ate some pasta tonight.
Bren I hope you get your call tomorrow, I once had a biopsy on Christmas eve, mainly I think because that the Doc on duty had nothing to do.
Christmas dinner that yeart was a no no.
So push if you have to..

LOL! You do know you can take paracetomol AND ibuprofen Helen, don't you? I can even take my solpadol (paracetomol and codeine) and ibuprofen when I need to. Advil is the US equivalent of ibuprofen and I take 'Advil PM' which also has a 'sleep aid'--good when I need it!
To be honest, don't think biopsy/results are gonna make much difference to me, so can live happily without the additional pain til January!
Can't you just ring every day Helen and annoy them? I was once told that if you keep ringing consultant's secretary, they get fed up eventually and DO somethin!!!

Love Bren x
