I had a fine needle biopsy of the lymph node on Tuesday, at the same time they did the BOT biopsy under general anesthetic. The tongue and throat are a little sore, but the site of the lymph node biopsy is really tender and swollen. ENT says this is normal, and to use ice. The lymph node was only 2cm before the biopsy, but now that whole area feels like a tennis ball in my neck.
Anyone else experience this?
Thanks,

After the needle biopsy of the swollen lymph node under my jaw. It was as if the node became 'angry' or something.......got more and more sore and tender. I felt 'shooting' pains up the side of my head....not to mention the lymph gland swelled up considerably and measured 5.5 cm when it was finally removed at surgery 4 weeks later.
dx 2/13/06. modified radical neck dissection 3/9/06 multiple biopsies of upper airway and direct laryngoscopy. 1 of 47 lymph nodes positive for metastatic undifferentiated carcinoma (lymphoepithelioma). Unknown primary. Finished radiation 5/24/06.

When I had both done, many moons ago, I had no soreness, no pain, no swelling, no nothing. Hurt a little when he did it FNB, but that's all. I don't think I was even given any meds after surgical biopsy. I'd ask if this normal?
Take care, Eileen

I also only felt the stick of that needle and had no reaction afterwards. I guess my doc didn't piss my nodes off!!
