(They're removing/replacing my left jawbone.)
Thanks to this wonderful forum I am approaching this surgery with a positive attitude and no apprehension; I view it as nearing the end to the nasty roller coaster ride I've been on since February.
I've come to realize that, compared to many of the survivors here, I am somewhat of a wimp with regards to the pain and side effects of the treatment. I survived just as many of you told me I would and thanks to the past posts, all (yes all) of my questions were answered from those of you kind enough to contribute your experiences.
So tomorrow is the beginning of a new adventure and I hope the end of an exisitng nightmare.
I thank you all for your support.
SCC,Left Mandible, Stage IVa, Diagnosed 2/28/04, Cisplatin/5FU, Radiation 40 days. Lower left mandible removed and replaced with bone from hip Septemeber 29th, 2004. Happy Camper ever since!

Don't worry what anyone thinks about something you have to or have already gone through. There is no part of this wild ride reserved for anything but warriors. Everyone that has dealt with this horrible disease is a true warrior and don't let anyone convince you differently. I hope all goes well and will be thinking special thoughts at exactly 2:00 pm Dallas time!

I have said MANY times that I would do the surgery ten times over before I would do the radiation again. Good luck and keep us posted. Minnie

Best wishes and prayers for a completely successful operation. I'm another one of those people who found surgery much easier to deal with than radiation, and I'm hoping you will too.
