#3182 08-03-2004 02:27 AM | Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 18 Member | OP Member Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 18 | i have a question for every one here.i am almost two years free and have ran into something im not sure about,last week for my regular check up i asked the ent why I was not getting any engery back its like im wore out all the time and have been a bit depressed for some time im toothless but eat like a horse(lol)but now im starting to lose wieght i have lost 7 pounds in the last two weeks my thyroid is shot and i have been taking synthroid for that but now he thinks i may have addisons disease i know this may sound like a dumb question but has any one had this problem of just staying tired all the time,muscle pain mainly in the shoulders and just dont never feel like doing anything even the things you really love to do is a chore,im just curious about all this, i would appericate any replies on this from any one who has experinced the same things | | |

The muscle pain is something I can relate to especially in the sholder if you had a radical neck dissection. Depression will also sometimes make you tired (or tired will make you depressed) The feelings you describe were with me for maybe the first year. then got quite a bit better. The shoulder pain might never be completely better, but but by using the shoulder and arm or getting Physical Therapy you should be able to get it pretty good.
Your weight loss concerns me more especially if you are eating well. If your synthroid is too large a dose you could be Hyperthyroid (as opposed to hypOthyroid) and that can cause weight loss.

Mark, 21 Year survivor, SCC right tonsil, 3 nodes positive, one with extra-capsular spread. I never asked what stage (would have scared me anyway) Right side tonsillectomy, radical neck dissection right side, maximum radiation to both sides, no chemo, no PEG, age 40 when diagnosed.

#3184 08-05-2004 09:57 PM | Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 18 Member | OP Member Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 18 | thanks mark the shoulder that is giving me the most problem is on the oppsite side of the lympnoid that they took out of my neck i go to the endo doc tue they gonna run some test to check for addison and my thyroid level again to be honest im kinda worried tue i woke up sick and now my neck is hurting on the side to were they took out the lympnoid i saw the ent bout two weeks ago next month will be two years free im sure its just the jitters im just curious if it gets any better with the tiredness and pain if not reckon i can learn to LIVE with it and live is the key word here mike | | |
