Just wanted to take the opportunity, for those new folks who have just joined and those who may have forgotten, to remind everyone about the get together we're having in Las Vegas. So far, here's pretty much how things are shaping up!!
Get together is on weekend of September 24, 25 at the Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Friday night Sept 24th, arrival, meet at the "Pearl" room from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 p.m. for name tags, snacks, a general meeting and greeting and a hearty "Hello." There's nothing formal planned at this time, just more a get to know everyone, hugs and such session.
For Saturday, a day time activity we're working on possilby is a "Cancer Shoot" AKA "Taking Aim at Oral Cancer" at the Gun Store in Las Vegas. The medical community as shot us up with radiation and chemo, now it's our turn to shoot at "cancer cells" and get our revenge!! Details on that to follow..
Buffet dinner is planned for Saturday evening at 6:00 p.m. in the "Dynaty" room, followed by talk by Brian and others, and a fund-raising raffle for OCF. Have some neat prizes already set, but anyone who wants to donate raffle prizes please contact either Dinah or myself. There's also talk of an on-line silent auction for those who can't be there in person.
We've got the Dynasty room from 2:00 p.m. so we might have a late afternoon disussion group set up also, we're still working on that.
For lodging, we have special rates set up with the Imperial Palace as follows. Thursday 9/23 $59.00 Friday/Saturday 9/24-9/25 $79.00 (note the hotel does NOT accept Saturday arrivals) Sunday 9/26 $59.00 Room rate is based on one or two people. There will be an additional charge of $19.00 per person for over two people.
People attending will be responsible for making their own reservations. Call 800-800-2981 for reservations; please identify yourself as being with the Oral Cancer Foundation for special room rates.
Room rates are net, based on single or double occupancy and subject to Clark County Room Tax of 9%
Price for the Banquet will be $40.00 per person, payable in advance. This will cover the banquet room rental for Friday and Saturday, Friday snacks, the Saturday night buffet banquet, and incidentals. Any left over will be donated to OCF.
Bob (JetAgeHobo) will be collecting the money for the banquet, please have checks to him by 3 weeks before the event if possible. Make the checks out to Robert Szabolcsky
Mail to Robert Szabolcsky Apt 1219 14781 Memorial Drive Houston, TX 77079
So far we have a head count of about 35 folks with an unofficial RSVP, about 13 paid attendees. A note for everyone that has sent checks and are still trying to reconcile their check book and wondering when the check they sent will clear, I probably won't be depositing the checks until the week of the banquet when I'm back in the U.S.
We're hoping this will be a good time, with this kind of thing the more the merrier. I know Brian is looking forward to this, as well as many others. We look forward to seeing everyone there.
Cheers, Bob

There may be some creative ways to make it happen. The important thing to remember is that if there is even the most remote chance of us getting together, it should be done!

One change to the above, we've decided NOT to do the target shooting as a formal activity, although if anyone wants to get to gether as a formal group and give it a go, that's still an option, we can decide there.
Will be putting the second deposit in on the banquet in a day or two, so please e-mail me with an RSVP so I can give the hotel an estimate.
Looking forward to seeing you all.
