I know it is a minor surgery but please keep me in your prayers today. They are going to take out my left tonsil and biopsy it. I am praying that it is not cancer. The surgery is at 12:30

Thank You

Sam,

It may be "minor" but it's still surgery!!I will be praying that the surgery goes well, and more importantly, that they will find no cancer.

Let us know how you are doing, as soon as you feel able. We're all here for you all the time.

Barb

Sam: You may not be able to post, but please ask someone to go online for you, and let me know how you're doing. You have certainly been in my prayers all day...

I was out of surgery today. Thje doctor talked with my wife and said that he looked all over and could not find what he saw when he first examined me. He decided not to take the tonsil but did biopsy it. He was 90 pecent sure that it was not cancerouse but sent it off for final exam. I will wait for final confirmation within 3 to four days before I count my chickens. I am postive with the results but do not want to assume anything.

Thank You so much for your words of wisdom and advice. Most of all thank you for your prayers.

Sam

WHy would it have shown up on the pet scan if it was not malignan. Since cancer can spread so quickly I just want to make sure that I am not mis-diagnosed. I have never felt a sore throat since this whole thing began. The Doctor told my wife that it may have just been infected when he first examined it. You would have thought I would have felt some pain or something if it had been an infection. I am awiating the biobsy results. I am wondering however if you guys have any suggestions or advice for me

Sam: GREAT news! There is a forum topic here, designated 'false positive PET scan results', something like that...do a 'search ' for it...
you wouldn't be the first to get a false positive...I pray that this is the case! Keep us posted!

Sam,great news but I'm wondering why he didn't remove you tonsils while he was at it. It would savethe trouble down the road. They are nothing but trouble anyway. They aid in snoring an infection. Just curious, Tony

Sam: sounds like good news. Unfortunatly false positives happen. Pain may or may not be present and is not a good indicator of whether a lesion is cancerous or not. Many lesions only become painful when they invade or otherwise displace other tissues.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I hope everything turns out to be in your favor.

Mike
