My husband is receiving radiation (10 to date) and chemo (1 to date) now, in his 3rd week. His temperature by mouth is 38.4 and under his arm it is 36.5...Does this seem normal? His eating habits are getting better. He is taking some pureed foods by mouth and 3 cans of Nutren today. Any suggestions??

If not, this could be serious. I do not know how critical the temperature thing is. But I do know the most acurate is taken with a rectal thermomitor.

Glad to hear hubby is doing a bit better Wayne

You don't say where your husband's cancer was but if it was on the oral tongue and he had part of that removed it is hard to get an accurate mouth temp.

(you probably don't add a whole degree to the underarm temp for centigrade--sorry mommpez, we Americans are only familiar with our wierd measurement units!)

Anyways the good news is that my husband is having a good day today and they believed his electrolytes were out of wack. He has colour back in his face and is in good spirits. He is eating some pureed foods and also seen a social worker who was very informative. His cancer is behind his tonsil and is quite advanced. Thank you all again..

The digital ear thermometer is a good option. It is important to stay on top of temperature elevations because that can be a sign of infection and his immune system is weakened by the treatments. Did your medical team give you guidelines on when to call them?
My husband's tonsil cancer was also very advanced, he's stage 4 - as are a lot of people on this forum - and I am happy to tell you that he is doing well. That's great that your husband is eating more, it really helps in the recovery and controlling side effects.
Regards JoAnne
