I have a question. Last May I was was diagnosed with scc in tongue. Had surgery, reappeared in tongue and node in Sept. Had neck dis. + 6 weeks radiation. Now it came back along my scar line in my neck. Dr. says cell survived rad. because it was in scar tissuse. I'm going to have surgery Thurs. to get clear margins. Anyone else have this happen? Should I be worried? I'm 37, don't smoke, etc..

It sounds logical but not probable. Your case is my first ever hearing this. But when your dealing with cancer cells anything is possible/probable. At least you are being offered a surgical option. My recurrence in inoperable. My "new" tumor spirals around the carotid artery, the jugular vein and the right sub-clavean artery.
I am in Chemotherapy and it is kicking my butt.

I think they did my radiation plan (IMRT) with extra radiation along the neck scar line because of that possibility. I know when they were taking the pictures to set up the scan they carefully marked where the scar was. (Though I didn't have any cancer in my nodes so I'm not sure why I'd have cancer in the scar but anyway)....
