Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 4 | Wrote a few weeks ago about my cousin. She was told that she has Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma. The doctor told her it is very aggressive, and that surgery may not be an option.Any info out there please, she is going out of her mind.
She is being treated at Karmonas in Detroit. | | |

Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 482 | Pearld, is Karmonas a major cancer center? Sorry, I have to ask. If not, suggest your cousin go to a cancer center. If surgery isn't possible, a chemo/radiation plan should be an alternative. Has she had a doctor discuss alternatives? A treatment plan will help her to feel more positive and a cancer center will be aware of all of the possibilities.

I am in full agreement with Kirk Georgia. The best outcome means the best hospitals. I know nothing about the hospital you listed (they might be fine), but be sure she is seen by the best she can get to even if it requires a little (or lot) of work.
Mark, 21 Year survivor, SCC right tonsil, 3 nodes positive, one with extra-capsular spread. I never asked what stage (would have scared me anyway) Right side tonsillectomy, radical neck dissection right side, maximum radiation to both sides, no chemo, no PEG, age 40 when diagnosed.
