Waiting for the biopsy results. I'm hoping for good results.

My dentist caught my Leukoplakia within 3 weeks of it forming, and told me we could watch it for a couple of weeks, or biopsy it now. I chose the latter. I figured why let it get a foot hold any sooner than need be. The Oral Surgeon removed the whole area (5mmx5mm) and sent it off to the University of MN pathology lab.

So now the waiting game.

I have done my research, and it appears that only 3-5% are actually malignant. This helps, but only a little. I found the site, and decided to register. The info here is great.

Wish me luck!

Glenn

Glen, great move on you and your dentist's part to get this taken care of REAL early. Hopefully what is now a irritating but a realitivly minor surgery remains so, and because of your early actions is the last you hear of this problem.

Best Wishes
Bob

Thanks all.

This is a new dentist, as my old one retired. I always wondered why he kept looking around my mouth so much... wink

I am impressed with him so far, and glad I chose him. My old dentist never really did a thorough mouth exam like this.

I go back on Tuesday to have the stitches taken out of my toungue, and the results may be back then. I never realized how much a person uses their toungue until now.

The decision to biopsy right away was due in part to this site. It is a person's normal reaction to take a "wait and see" attitude to this. After reading about, and realizing the danger of oral cancers, plus my wife's prodding smile , the decision was easy.

Thanks for the thoughts, and I'll post my results.

Glenn

Glenn, Welcome to the site. Glad you found us. Hope you don't need the info here, but it is here if you do. Will pray for good results, i.e., no cancer.

Glenn,

You are so fortunate to have found this site in particular and I am sure most if not all of us wish we had this site to come to years (or months) ago and your dentist. What a great combo, for sure! Best wishes for good pathology results.

Ed
