I used to post here a few months ago, and haven't in a long time, though I still keep in touch with a few members here, via e-mail. Well, I wanted to update all who knew me on what has occured. I finally had an open biopsy on my lymph node in my neck last Wednesday. The doctor called today and informed me that these enlarged lymph nodes were NOT CANCEROUS!! Yeah! He still feels I need to see another specialist due to the lymph nodes being enlarged bilaterally in my neck, as well as in my chest. But the best news is what I got today, that is is not cancer. Thank god for that. I want to say Thank You to you all for the support you have shown to me in the past and I owed it to you to let you know the "final" outcome. I continue to wish the best for everyone here as well.
Love
Desiree

That is good news. I am curious though about the lesion on the base of your tongue which was the beginings of your postings. What ever happened with that? Did it ever get biopsied, or did I miss that part?

Brian-
In response to your question, they did biopsy the "lesion" on the base of my tounge like 2 months prior to this, and it came back atypical hyperplasia of T and B cells. So, I went to Penn for 2nd opinion and when he looked down my nose/throat with the flexible laryngoscope, he saw no such "lesion" but instead, alot of inflammed and irritated lymph tissue. Maybe the so-called lesion, was never a lesion at all, or what once was, was taken at the first biopsy. The doctor did say he took quite a bit off the back of my tounge, but did not show cancer. That is when it was recommended to me to have a rebiopsy and when I changed facilities. I am thankful if he got what had been there, and that I am through with procedures, at this time. Never know what these new doctors are going to say about the enlarged nodes in my chest, probaby try to diagnose it as some sort of virus, which is fine with me. My anxiety has gotten 100x better just to know I am cancer-free.
Thanks again for all of your support, each and every one of you.

Desiree,
That is terrific news. So glad things worked out for you. Hope they find out what is causing the enlarged lymph nodes.

Take care,
Eileen

Desiree!
Congrats on your non-cancerous condition!!!!! This sort of diagnosis is what keeps us ALL coming back....there really IS hope for us all- and I appreciate your sharing your wonderful news. Those of us who have yet to have similar results look forward to "outdoing" you inasfar as getting a 'real' life back!!! :-)
The most valuable commodity for me at least, is FAITH that there can really be quality life after diagnosis....and treatment.....ohmygoodness TREATMENT that you, hopefully, will never go through. In the midst of my treatment, I can only say, "good for you, girl!" and I hope this whole mess that you've been through..... going from doc to doc and being delayed and treated like a 'condition' rather than a human being hasn't scarred you too badly....I rather suspect you're a heck of a lot stronger than you thought you were!!!! :-)
Love and best wishes
Gordon
