Hello

I hope you don't mind me asking this here but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere and I cant get to my dentist until late next week.

2 mornings ago I woke up with a small blister type lump on the inside of my lower lip, it is very smooth and seems to decrease in size during the day but is raised each morning. although the top of it is paler than my inner lip it isnt exactly white in colour. It is very smooth, does not bleed and causes me no pain. It almost feels as though I could bite it off! I have checked the rest of my mouth and neck and cant find any other problems. I am a 35 year old female, I do not smoke (although I used to but not heavily and havent for 3 years) I do enjoy a drink but I wouldnt consider myself a heavy or excessive drinker, generally a glass of 2 of wine with dinner.

I am not expecting anyone to tell me if this is cancer or not, but any guidance as to the likliehood would be appreciated as I am having to wait a week for my appointment. I realise I am probably overreacting and apologise if I waste anyone's time but I am becomming anxious.

Thank you for your time

What you are descibing sounds like a mucocele, which is essentailly a cloged, very small salivary duct in your mouth. The entire lining of your mouth is covered with them. When they clog up, they form a little clear blister which is painless and eventually bursts, healing in just a few days. Do a search in the message boards under the term mucocele and you will find a bunch of posts related to them.
