Went to Oncologist 1 1/2 weeks ago. Sent biopsy to huge Cancer center in PA for a "world-renowned"patholigist to give his opinion. Instead of "hyerplasia of T and B cells" as the original, his report suggested ATYPICAL hyperplasia of these cells, though he cannot confirm the diagnosis of base of tounge lyphoma (either Hodgkins or non). He sent biopsy back to original lab last week, for what seems to be a futile attempt to make a diagnosis by doing a test called a "Immunoperoxidase for delta and lamba chains??" Anyway, the Cancer Centers pathologist believes that this test can diagnose me without having to do another biopsy. I am very upset to say the least, the waiting game, as I call it drags on. SO, I took charge and made an appointment (against my ENT's wishes) with a Surgical Oncologist at The University of Pennsylvania. They are supposably very good at what they do, since all the surgical oncoligists do is cancer biopsies. I figure, if I am going to go through it again, I am not playing around with these local guys anymore. I feel like maybe Brian was correct in saying that I should go to the "BEST" institutin available to me, assuming that I would try to stay around my home. I did not listen (bad Desiree', slap my hand) and upon doing so, I hope I have not further delayed my treatment and let this "early" lymphoma (as the ENT put it) turn into something more aggressive. I blame this period of waiting on my doctors, but maybe I should have started at a facility where they don't mess around, with a 24-year old, or anyone else no matter the age!! So, as it stands now, I have an appointment on Thursday for the new Oncologist and the receptionist said that they schedule biopsies within a week. So, I should have some definitive answers within 2-3 weeks, if not sooner, depending on what this immonuperoxidase test reveals. Funny, but I never though I would want someone to just tell me I had cancer, but now I do, just so I can get on with my life. Sad to think that way, but I cannot think any other. Take care everyone. I have been reading the posts, and though I have no been compelled to reply to many, you are all in my thoughts on a daily basis and I hope everyone is doing well! Desiree'

It is wonderful to hear how you have taken charge! While we all hope it is not cancer, if that happens, you are in the right frame of mind to take it on with great strength, spirit, and smarts. We will all be waiting for your next update. Joanna

You have really taken the bull by the horns and ain't takin no bull off of anyone. Ditto for me still hoping that you come out clean, but I have personally watched the education of Ms. Desiree and it is obvious that you are well-informed, focused and really going about things in the right way.
Bravo, Danny G.
