Unfortunately, she's not the first cancer thing I've been through in the last couple of years. 2 1/2 years ago, my best friend was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma and about 3 months later another friend was diagnosed with the same thing. At this point, it was a standing joke that if you hang around me, you get cancer! they are both now cancer free (best friend was stage IV, other friend stage II) In early June, right before mum's diagnosis, by father in law passed away from the exact same cancer mum has. He was diagnosed in February and quite literally laid down and died. He refused treatment, wouldn't do anything to help himself. Over the last 6 years, another friend of mine survived breast cancer 5 times. She was cancer free, but in July she contracted MRSA and passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. This year has actually been kind of cruddy (look mum, I'm being polite!!! ), but I am very grateful that you guys are all here and my mum has somewhere to go where she has people who knows what she's going through. The moral of the story among all of my friends..........stay the hell away from me....I will give you the cancer badness Yes - I know it's not contagious but I freely admit to having talked to my doc about it!

SO nice to meet you ..And you def have your mom's spirit !!! I am so glad she got to come out and surprise you !! How nice for the both of you and right around the holidays too !!
I wouldn't look at the negative , always try to see the positive ( yea rigth huh what positive ??) But everything for a reason and maybe these people around you all happened because you were a WONDERFUL friend ( like your mom ) who can give them the strength and encouragement they need !!! easier to lOok at that way !! ANd yes it has been a CRUDDY year !! But 2008 is right around the corner !!
Mom has told us alot about you and I know I am happy to actually welcome you to our extended family !
